Listed in 2006, First Real Estate Investment Trust (First REIT) is Singapore’s first listed healthcare real estate investment trust, which invests in income-producing real estate and/or real estate-related assets in Asia that are primarily used for healthcare and/or healthcare-related purposes. First REIT has a portfolio of 32 properties, including hospitals and nursing homes in Singapore, Japan and Indonesia, with a total asset value of S$1.14 billion as at 31 December 2023.
In October 2018, OUE Limited and OUE Healthcare Limited acquired a 60% and 40% stake, respectively, in First REIT Management Limited, the manager of First REIT.
Established in 1990 with a mission to provide accessible, affordable and quality medical services, Healthway Medical Corporation (HMC) today owns, operates and manages over 130 clinics and medical centres across Singapore, giving patients access to an extensive network of medical services, including GP, health screening, dental and specialist care.
OUEH completed the acquisition of HMC in October 2023, and HMC was subsequently delisted in November 2023.
In 2022, OUE Healthcare (OUEH) formed a medical partnership with three medical specialist groups in Singapore via a joint venture company with OUE Limited, namely O2 Healthcare Group (OUE JV), with OUEH and OUE holding 60.0% and 40.0% respectively in OUE JV. The medical partnership comprises two leading respiratory specialist practices and an established cardiothoracic surgery practice, with a total of 13 specialist doctors operating across 12 clinics. The medical partnership is an important milestone in OUEH’s goal to build a healthcare business ecosystem anchored on Singapore’s best medical practices for regional growth.
